Beginning its crackdown on water-waters, Burbank officials issued $100 fines to 16 residents who violated the city’s water- conservation regulations, the city announced Tuesday.
Burbank is under orders from the state to reduce its overall water use by 28 percent to help meet Gov. Jerry Brown’s mandate for a 25 percent reduction in use statewide. Burbank’s water-conservation ordinance allows the city to impose fines on residents and businesses that continue to waste water after being notified that they are violating the regulations.
